Rick Swafford is semi‑retired and serves as a Principal with Rodefer Moss & Co, PLLC, having joined the Firm as a partner in 2001. He is a Certified Public Accountant with advanced credentials in business valuation and holds the appropriate securities licenses to support transaction advisory and capital markets engagements. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee.

Mr. Swafford has more than 40 years of experience advising clients on business valuation, transaction advisory, and complex financial matters, including the valuation of businesses and intangible assets, business interruption and lost profits analyses, and matters involving professional malpractice. His experience also includes consulting in litigation involving solvency issues, as well as estate, gift, and trust matters requiring valuation, property analysis, and timing of distributions.

He has provided expert testimony in both local and federal courts and is one of only a few CPAs appointed as Examiner for the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern Districts of Kentucky and Tennessee in Chapter 11 reorganization cases. In this role, Rick investigated management actions leading to bankruptcy and advised the courts on financial and transactional matters. He has also served as Special Master in corporate dissolution engagements.

Rick brings deep expertise in Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance, SEC reporting, and transaction‑related financial reporting. Through his work with Rodefer Moss Transaction Advisors and Rodefer Moss & Co, he frequently advises on valuation matters related to mergers and acquisitions, purchase price allocations, fair value measurements for complex debt and equity instruments, option pricing, and impairment analyses. He also assists clients with public filings, private offerings, and a wide range of financing transactions involving banks, investment bankers, and other capital providers, and has long overseen the Firm’s services to publicly held and financial services clients.

Rick serves as Director of Advisory Services for Rodefer Moss Transaction Advisors, LLC, a wholly owned affiliate of the Firm, where he leads the business valuation, forensics, litigation support, and transaction advisory practices. He is also a registered representative of DCF, LLC (Decosimo Corporate Finance), an investment banking firm whose national affiliate network has facilitated more than $15 billion in business transactions.
